Hyderabad: Feeling insecure with police ‘actions’ in the aftermath of the communal clashes, and the state government not taking the issue seriously, a delegation of Muslim organizations on Monday met Mr Nisar Ahmed Kakru, chairman, State Human Rights Commission, and lodged complaint against the police.
The delegation gave a petition to SHRC chairman highlighting the grievances of the Muslim community in Hyderabad including the fact that they are living in fear of getting targeted by the police.

The delegation informed the chairman as to how Muslims are being targeted by the police after the communal clashes. The delegation also informed him about the beating up of nephew of former state minister Basheeruddin Babu Khan by the Hyderabad police under supervision of an IPS officer. How secure common Muslims could be when a member of a political family can be targeted, the delegation members told him.
The delegation led Hassan Uddin Ali Ahemd retd IAS officer included Major Quadri of Help Hyderabad, Maulana Hamid Mohammed Khan of Movement for Peace and Justice, Nasera Khanam of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and others.
Later in the day Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) delegation of MLAs under the leadership of party’s general secretary Ahmed Pasha Quadri met the SHRC chairman and demanded strict action against the cops who are involved in arresting Muslim youths in false cases. He also informed him about the case of Syed Faisal who died two days back while trying to evade the police arrest. MIM demanded that SHRC should protect the human rights of Muslims which are being violated by the police.

SHRC after getting representation from different Muslim organizations on the alleged harassment of Muslims issued a notice to the A.P. government asking for its response to the allegations made by different Muslim organizations.
In the late evening a delegation of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (united Muslim forum) met Addtl DGP (law and order) Mr. S.A. Huda and complained about the biased attitude of police towards Muslims. They submitted a memorandum to Addtl DGP and asked for ex-gratia for the family of Syed Faisal. The delegation told Mr. Huda that acts of police while arresting Muslim youths are illegal, according to Supreme Court guidelines police can’t arrest a suspect in the midnight. But city police in many cases is apprehending Muslim youths in the middle of the night. The forum demanded that police should register a case under sec 302 of I.P.C against those officers responsible for Faisal’s death.
Meanwhile curfew has been lifted from all parts of the city, but sec 144 will remain implemented.
